ok - could be better

I used this with decking paint rather than stain and found it applied quickly and evenly. Was easy to put together, and yes the handle is a bit short - but I am a shorty so the right length for me (if you were 6" you would be hunched over using this).
However on 3 stars as the pad sheds fluff which is annoying and also is not grooved so difficult the get into the grooves of the decking - will end up using a brush for second coat, Also used almost a whole tin for 1 coat which is meant to 20m2 for 2 coats
Way better than reviews made me think

I was almost out off by all the bad reviews but took a gamble. Glad I did. So much faster than a brush. It takes a bit of getting used to like it does for any amateur DIYer using a new tool. The first few boards aren't quite as well finished as the last but that more on me than the tool. If you are doing a dark stain you'll want to use a brush for the gaps between boards. Also worth buying a replacement pad as they aren't the most durable.
Complete waste of money

I bought this to use with the ronseal decking stain, thinking "they made the stain this must be the perfect product to go with it". I couldn't have been more wrong. Telescopic shaft would not stay together, pad kept sliding out, shaft was far to short for a grown up to use (my back is aching!) save your self the money and pain and don't bother buying it! Terrible product

Thought this would make the job easier, how wrong was I. Makes the stain foam up and the pad detaches far too easy. Add in a very patchy finish and look elsewhere. The irony of this product is that if you overload the pad with stain, the pad detaches from the head in 5 minutes and won't go back on. However you have to overload it to stain the grooves. Uses twice the amount of expensive stain it should do

Do not waste your money, not good for decking cleaning - still need a hard brush or decking paint application. Doesn’t apply paint into decking grooves, once used - the pad stops sticking to the ‘brush head’. Honestly, sounds too good to be truth- because it is!
