Features and benefits
Dulux Matt is a smooth and creamy emulsion paint for use on walls and ceilings which is ideal for a modern, flat finish. At B&Q we want you to be satisfied with your colour selection. Not all monitors will display colours the same and paint tins may not show the same colour as your walls do in natural light. We therefore recommend you order a tester pot online or pop in store to pick one up so you are sure that this is the right colour for you.

Used this to paint sons bedroom and it only needed one coat. Very good quality. Went on easily and can’t see any streaks. Highly recommend.

Love the colour in my kitchen. Used with roller and went on easy. Dried to a nice matt finish.

Such a beautiful blue, really gorgeous. This paint glides-on fantastically well with a roller, giving a flawless finish with no patches or streaking. Sure, you’ll need at least 2 coats; leaving 24 hours in between each coat to prevent lifting. This paint gives superb coverage, and wipes-down brilliantly without lifting any colour at all (once completely dry); wipe away dirty marks & accumulated grime with warm soapy water using a soft cloth; don’t scour. This is a really good quality paint, just as you would expect from Dulux, at a reasonable price; some emulsions can & do ‘wash off’ during general cleaning/wiping-down, leaving more paint on your cloth than on the wall, but like I said, this doesn’t! We love this particular colour, and have used it in our Hallway, Living Room, stairwell & on the Landing. Initially, we wondered whether it would be too dark in the Hallway (which is a narrow & fairly small area), but with good lighting, it really does look fantastic. So, don’t be put-off thinking that this colour will be too dark, thus making your Hallway appear oppressive, or give the impression of a gloomy ‘cave’, because it doesn’t. It actually lends a gorgeous vibrancy to this smallish/narrow area, and provides a beautiful impression as you walk into the house. We had initially narrowed our original choices down to just 2 different blues (one lighter than this Blue Babe, and this one); we, like many folks, were concerned about the darkness of this colour for use in such a narrow space, despite it being our favourite of the two choices. So, we did the standard ‘patch test’....this didn’t really help, as you just can’t get a feeling for an entire room from a couple of painted patches of colour on your wall. Eventually though, we just went with our first colour preference, and took-the-plunge! So glad that we did; this Blue Babe is a beautiful colour, and certainly doesn’t make our Hallway look too dark, small, nor oppressive; it looks wonderful. In fact, far from creating a dark & oppressive feeling in our small/narrow Hallway, this lovely blue actually brightens the entire area & somehow lends itself to the impression of space & brightness ~ check-out my snaps (excuse the unfinished stair banister; we’re still decorating). Originally, all of our walls were painted the same boring, standard cream (dare I say the dreaded ‘M’ word!) prior to this gorgeous blue. However, without any doubt at all, our Hallway now literally radiates vibrancy & space; maybe because you actually take the time to look around & notice the fabulous paintwork now. If you like (or love) this colour, but are concerned about the darkness of it in a small/narrow area, then I’d definitely say “...just take-the-plunge & go for it”. It takes absolutely nothing away from your ‘perceived space’ in terms of illusion, but rather, it adds to the impression of even more space. I mention all of this ‘darkness & space perception’ here, because initially, that was the only dilemma holding us back from making our preferred choice. So, I just wanted to reassure you all, that if you do prefer this colour, but have reservations about ‘perceived space’ illusion, then I’d certainly opt for this delightful colour. Oh, just as an additional footnote (to my already extensive & epic review here), we have teamed this gorgeous Blue Babe wall emulsion with a
mid-range grey gloss/satin (Manhattan Grey) on the woodwork (skirting & architrave); the two colours really compliment each other wonderfully. Our internal wooden doors are a brilliant white; we’re more than delighted with the overall results. You can see from my photos here, that our Hallway is indeed very small & narrow. The whole purpose of my lengthy review & these photos is to demonstrate (as best I can) to you, that a darker colour in your Hallway won’t necessarily give the impression of darkness or gloom, or promote that ‘dreaded’ impression of a cave!
