One small thing lets this product down!
Pinkney1966 - 9 months ago
This looked to be a really nice, fair priced shower screen. I needed one to replace the old fixed one that was in my home when we moved in. Once installed it looked really nice and was effective at keeping the water where it should be, inside the bath - and, with teenage children taking lengthy showers, this is a very important point!
Sadly after only 2 months I noticed a pink hue starting to form in the clear rubber seal trim that would not clean off, it seemed to be inside the compound of the material, I contacted PJH, the manufacturer and supplier for B&Q, who could not have been any more helpful. They replaced the seal kit for me and I was good as new again.... fast forward 2 months and the exact same thing is happening again, pink hue inside the clear rubber. I called PJH, no one answered the phone... fair enough we are in a lock down, maybe they are busy. I emailed the customer service, then chased them up after a full week had passed without any acknowledgement of my email. Now a further week on I still have not heard anything from them so my plan is to simply go out to buy another shower screen from somewhere else, write this one off as a very poor quality one and put it down to experience.
The material they use for the seal trim seems to be compromised in some way, it could be easily fixed by changing the material they use, there are many different rubber materials to choose from out there. The one that is supplied with this screen is either not UV stable or reacts badly to being used in a wet area, such as over the side of a bath - my bet is on the UV stability, I feel that it is daylight that is causing the issue but, I have no way to prove that.
My advice is that if you need a shower screen but, do not really want pink blotches to be highly visible in the sealing strip then you should not buy this one.
